Our annual Christmas Wine and Choc O is in Djouce Woods Saturday 14th December. The start will be at the Lakes Car Park at the southern (Roundwood) side of the map. Leinster League – Cushbawn, Co. Wicklow, 27th October revised start window


The next Leinster League event will take place at Cushbawn, Ballinaclash, Co. Wicklow on Sunday 27th October.
Due to Coillte licensing conditions, we have to delay the start window from the customary times. There will be no entry to the forest until 11.00am. So Start times will be from 11.15am until 1.15pm. Please also note that the clocks will be changing in the early hours of Sunday morning, so you will have an extra hour in bed! The club champs are on this Saturday 28th September in Glen of the Downs. Start times are 2:30 to 3:00pm. Please allow for a fifteen minute walk from the car park to the start. The car park can be accessed from the southbound carriageway of the N11 and is at https://maps.app.goo.gl/EQTGGeo4iSKQ6Ziz6. There is a height restriction to the car park of 2.3m.
The event itself is planned as a variation on a norwegian event, with climb and distances minimised. There will be a handicap system to allow for fitness and experience that should give everyone an equal chance of winning …

We are holding a ‘Come and Try it’ event in Djouce Woods this coming Sunday 3rd March. We will be using the middle car park for assembly and not the normal main car park. Courses are as follows.

Short -2.1k with 50 Meters of climb. 10 controls with taped routes.
Technical short-2.6km with 50 meters of climb. 10 controls.
Medium-4.1km with 200 meters of climb and 13 controls.
Long-6.5km with 350 meters of climb. 19 controls.

The Setanta Club Champs will take place at Cronykeery, near Ashford, at 2pm on 21st October. This will be followed by the AGM, which is scheduled for 4pm in Ashford House, Ashford, County Wicklow. Sad news of the passing of club member Claire Walsh last Friday after a long illness. Our thoughts are with her family and many friends.
Claire joined us from Three Rock many years ago and was our club champion back in 2013. Her true achievements though were in athletics were she was a multiple Irish Champion and record holder. She represented Ireland at the Olympics in 1972 and at the European Championships the year before became the first Irish female athlete to qualify for a major championship final. Setanta Orienteers are staging a local come-and-try-it event at Shanganagh Park, Shankill, County Dublin this coming Sunday 19th February.

Entries close Friday night. Limited entry on day with €2 surcharge per person.

There are three courses on offer.

Short course-1.9km with 11 controls,  suitable for beginners, children, families with buggies.

Entries are open for the third ‘Dublin By Night’ event to be held at Vartry Reservoir on Saturday 21st January. You can enter through the Orienteering Ireland website at https://www.orienteering.ie/fixtures/vartry-reservoir-2  Entries are open until 23:00 on 20/1/2023.

There are two courses available –

Long – 4.8km long; 18 controls

Short – 3.4km long; 11 controls

The climb is very small on both courses. SIAC will not be enabled. Control descriptions are printed on the map with loose descriptions available at the start. Map scale is 1:7,500 with 5m contour interval.
