Hi All, we have a non league 'come and try it' event on Sunday week 18th February at Djouce. Our own certified coach Terry Lawless will be running a coaching corner for Juniors and those new to the sport. We hope that IOA coaching officer Eoin Browne will be there too. They will be giving technical tips and a bit of instruction on navigation. The coaching corner will be open for club members between 11am and 12:30 beside registration. It should be enjoyable as well as instructive and a great way to get some new techniques to try out on your run.
Many thanks to Terry for this great initiative.

The second Dublin By Night event takes place this Saturday evening 20th January 2018 at Ballyward, Blessington, Co Wicklow.

There will be the usual two courses.
Long 3.8km with 110m climb.
Short 2.1 km with 70m climb.
Starts will be from 18.30 to 19.30 but due to 0.5km long narrow laneway from public road you must be parked by 19.00 at the latest.
Courses close at 20.30
Sportident timing will be used.
Premarked maps at 1:10,000 will be in plastic bags (unfortunately printer does not have waterproof paper available).
Join Setanta for an exciting winters evening of orienteering in sheltered Wicklow woods.

Hoping somebody can help me out😬😬 I've seen some people using a little small compass that attaches to your finger for navigation.
Can anyone tell me where I can get one of these?

Rose GriffinThanks very much for your help, Pat is sorting me out with one! And Sean you are right, they are thumb compasses!! I never got a good look at anyone using one as they were running by me so quick, so wasn't sure what the set up was! But I'm hoping with my new compass it'll make me that fast 😏 Thanks again.

Angus TynerRose Griffin, only seen your message today. I have a few! thumb compasses lying around, you're welcome to try them. I tried a few of them before settling on Suunto Arrow 6. There are also compasses with integrated SI Card
