Full details on event page

The event is suitable for all, beginners and experienced. The event is a forest sprint event on a specially produced sprint specification map. The event is also contactless punching enabled which will provide invaluable experience to those attending international competitions including the JK the following week.

Sprint events are short with winning times often less than 15 minutes. They are not technically hard, but require quick decision making and quick assessment of route choices. Running is fast and furious with seconds lost or gained being vital in the overall outcome. Usually sprint events are run in urban areas. The opportunity to run a sprint event in such a unique location that Massy’s Estate provides, should not be missed.

This is a special event to raise funds for the Irish Junior Orienteering Squad.  All funds taken on day go to junior squad. Setanta Orienteers are covering all event costs. Setanta Orienteers’ member Zoë Tyner, who has run for Ireland in the past 3 Junior Home Internationals has planned 2 courses. One for the experienced and one for beginners. Past use of funds raised are to fund training camps abroad and to fund squad gear.
