Ballinascorney Come & try it

Setanta Orienteers are hosting a non-league come and try it event at Ballinascorney Woods on Sunday 19th March. Start times between 11am and 1pm. Click this for Full Details Directions from the M50: Exit the M50 at Junction 12, Ballycullen and proceed in the direction of Oldbawn and Tallaght. Drive past 2 roundabouts and at the next crossroads turn left onto the R114 heading towards Bohernabreena. Stay on the R114 for around 4.5km then take the left turn at the Stone Cross and follow the road for another 2.1km until you reach the forest entrance on your left. Parking is available along this good forest road please follow the parking marshals instructions when locating a parking space. There are a small number of spaces available on the main road also so if parking there please leave gaps between the cars at regular intervals to ensure the free flowing of traffic. Connacht and Munster Champs

During past couple weeks, a small group of Setanta Orienteers members attended the Connacht Champs and Munster Champs.
The Connacht Champs were held in Ballygar last used in the 80s. The lengthy courses proved challenging in some respects but there was plenty of success.

In contrast the courses at Munster Champs were much shorter and with the terrain being sheep grazed moorland, the winning times were relatively fast but this meant more time to sample the cakes!!

40th Anniversary novelty event (club members only)

Setanta Orienteers is 40 years old having been founded in 1976. We thought that the occasion should not go unmarked, so we are going to have a celebratory novelty type event on Sunday 23rd October in honour of the occasion. The event will be at Ballinascorney using the 1979 version of the map. There may have been some changes to the area in the intervening decades (to say the least), but that’s part of the fun. Read More
