This Sunday the 21st of October 2018 Setanta Orienteers are holding a non-league come and try it event at Massy’s estate. The format will be a sprint style event in the forest. This event is suitable for complete beginners and experienced orienteers alike.
There will be three courses on offer
Long – 2.8km, 140m climb, 18 controls – technical
Medium – 1.7km, 100m climb, 13 controls – suitable for experienced, and improvers and those who want a bit more of a challenge
Short – 1.6km, 80, 10 controls – suitable for complete beginners
Start times are between 10:30am-1pm. Parking will be at the hellfire woods car park. Parking in hellfire car park can get busy so please park as close as possible to maximise the space in the car park.
The map is a sprint map and will be at a scale of 1:4000. Contour interval 2.5m
Maps will be pre-marked and sportident timing will be used.
The event will be signposted from ballycullen Road.
This event will be a fundraiser for both the senior and junior squads. The entry fee’s will be, Adults €7, juniors and O.A.P’s €5 and family (two adults and two juniors) €20. Hire of S.I cards will be included in the price (please don’t lose it and hand it back at the end of the event).
